According to the SANBI Red List assessment, this species is of Least Concern (Victor, 2005). This species was present in recent confiscated material of illegal collection from the wild (Confiscation Lists (2022) provided by SANBI Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden and SANparks Sendlingsdrift Garden). This suggests that this species could possibly be targeted and/or popular for horticultural trade.
