According to the SANBI Red List Assessment, this species is of Least Concern (Burgoyne, 2006). An internet survey of online market places indicated that this genus is not very popular in trade and that there is little demand. Several species of this genus are potentially threatened by harvesting of wild individuals for horticultural trade (Victor, 2004; von Staden, 2014).
