According to the SANBI Red List Assessment, this species is Vulnerable as it is known from few locations that are experiencing population decline due to habitat loss and degradation (von Staden & Raimondo, 2012). Other species in this genus are known to be threatened by collection of wild individuals (von Staden et al. 2012, von Staden & Liltved, 2012).

This taxon is known from 5-8 remaining subpopulations, an extent of occurrence of 2920 kmĀ² and 7-10 locations with a declining population size (von Staden & Raimondo, 2012).
von Staden, L. & Raimondo, D. 2012. Disa venusta Bolus. National Assessment: Red List of South African Plants version 2020.1.
Few known locations and small subpopulations with existing threats causing population decline (von Staden & Raimondo, 2012), makes this species vulnerable to further population loss. Were exploitation to also occur, recruitment and recovery may be poor.
