According to the SANBI Red List Assessment, this species is Endangered as it is highly range restricted with a small population at two locations that is experiencing population decline due to alien invasive plant encroachment (Helme et al. 2018). This genus is currently in demand and of popular interest in international horticultural trade, as indicated by several online marketplace, e-commerce and auction sites. Another species of this genus is known to be threatened with harvesting of wild individuals (Raimondo & Turner, 2006). Plants of this genus were among those targeted and/or confiscated during recent criminal prosecutions of illegal plant collecting. This suggests that this genus may be targeted and that endangered species may be at risk to exploitation.

This taxon has an extent of occurrence of 5 km². is known from two locations with an estimated population size of 500 individuals (Helme et al. 2018).
Helme, N.A., Raimondo, D. & von Staden, L. 2018. Euryops lasiocladus (DC.) B.Nord. National Assessment: Red List of South African Plants version 2020.1.
A small population, few locations of occurrence and threat from alien invasive (Helme et al. 2018) places the persistence of this species at risk. Were exploitation also to take place, recovery may be poor.
