According to the SANBI Red List Assessment, this species is Endangered as it is highly range restricted whereby three subpopulations remain due to habitat loss and degradation (Raimondo & Turner, 2013). This genus is currently in demand and of popular interest in international horticultural trade, as indicated by several online marketplace, e-commerce and auction sites. Another species of this genus is known to be threatened with harvesting of wild individuals (Raimondo & Turner, 2006). Plants of this genus were among those targeted and/or confiscated during recent criminal prosecutions of illegal plant collecting. This suggests that this genus may be targeted and that endangered species may be at risk to over-exploitation.

Raimondo, D. & Turner, R.C. 2006. Euryops ericifolius (Bél.) B.Nord. National Assessment: Red List of South African Plants version 2020.1.
This taxon is known from three remaining subpopulations with an estimated population size of less than 250 mature individuals and has lost at least 30% of its habitat (Raimondo & Turner, 2013).
(Raimondo & Turner, 2006).
This taxon is long-lived and with several threats that have resulted in a small remaining population (Raimondo & Turner, 2013). Recovery may be poor were exploitation to also occur.
