Assessor: Sarah Schumann
According to the SANBI Red List Assessment, this species is Vulnerable as it is known from four locations that are threatened by afforestation and lack of fire (Raimondo et al. 2007). This genus is currently in demand and of popular interest in international horticultural trade, as indicated by several online marketplace, e-commerce and auction sites. Another species of this genus is known to be threatened with harvesting of wild individuals (Raimondo & Turner, 2006). Plants of this genus were among those targeted and/or confiscated during recent criminal prosecutions of illegal plant collecting. This suggests that this genus may be targeted and that vulnerable species may be at risk to over-exploitation.

This taxon is known from four locations whereby the species has not been relocated at two of the locations (Raimondo et al. 2007).

Few known locations of occurrence and lack of fire will result in the loss of this species habitat as lack of recruitment for this fire-dependent species (Raimondo et al. 2007). Were exploitation also to occur, recovery may be poor.
