Other species of this genus are known to be threatened from harvesting of wild individuals for horticultural purposes. As this species does not have a vulnerable population size and is not thought to be threatened, were exploitation to occur, recruitment and recovery may be possible.

According to the SANBI Red List Assessment, this species is Rare as it is range restricted and not thought to be threatened (von Staden, 2014). Another species in this genus is known to be threatened by flower picking and collection of wild individuals (von Staden et al. 2006).
