Justification and references

 This species is listed on CITES Appendix II, but it has never been any exports for trade (UNEP-WCMC 2018), nor is there presence of trade on the internet. Although other species in the family are traded (UNEP-WCMC 2018), it is unlikely that this species is exploited from trade at present.

Justification and references

Hemicordylus nebulosus is endemic to the Landroskop area of the Hottentots Holland Mountain Range and is restricted to the high altitude rock faces that are between 1200 - 1500 m above sea level (Bates 2017). The distribution is extremely small, estimated as 7 km2 (Bates 2017). Furthermore, the population size of this species might fall below 2 500 mature individuals, as a count of individuals (for a single time period) have totalled ~1 000 animals (Costandius et al. 2006).  Because if its' small range, future trade could be detrimental.
