Assessor: Sarah Schumann
According to the SANBI Red List Assessment, this species is Endangered as it is known from between eight and 11 remaining subpopulations and is experiencing ongoing population decline due to habitat loss, degradation and alien invasive plant encroachment (von Staden, 2012). Other species in this genus are known to be threatened by collection of wild individuals (von Staden et al. 2012; von Staden & Liltved, 2012).

This taxon has between eight and eleven subpopulations with an estimated population size of less than 1000 mature individuals (von Staden, 2012).

A small population size with existing threats causing population decline makes this species vulnerable to further population loss. Were exploitation to also occur, recruitment and recovery may be poor.
